Gloji is a revolutionary weight loss programme for health and wellbeing, at the forefront of helping those with poor physical and mental health habits to make improvements in their life through accountability and understanding. When I was brought in, the team were 3 weeks into their build but had no designs of any fidelity – this is something that we quickly had to resolve with immediate requirements and wireframes, along with a UI framework to provide quick functionality that we could later come back to and apply a visual identity to. This minimised risk going forwards as well as showed value and progress to stakeholders.

As the UX lead, I worked with a team of content designers and one graphic designer to design and develop wireframes of varying fidelity. Being part of the product team meant that I could easily interpret requirements, run user testing and work with the development team to design and implement a final product that met both the user and business needs.

The objective was always to hire in house designers and developers, so to aid that transition I built a functioning style guide for the entire team to see and work with, to act as a version of the truth for functionality going forwards.

As part of the work I:

– was lead UX on the projects
– created high and low fidelity wireframes
– identified quick wins for the product and the business (using a UI framework)
– created responsive designs
– ran remote user testing
– worked closely with the product team to understand and define requirements as well as presenting designs and user testing feedback
– worked with a content design team
– created templates
– was responsible for writing job descriptions to hire designers and developers

The Bread Basket Bakery have been supplying kitchens and cafés in London for years, however taking orders by phone and email was very consuming in time and effort. Together, we designed and built a site that would take the orders for them and make their life simpler.

Who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked bread?

That’s what Gerry is offering with home taught classes so that everyone can be a baker! Gerry got in touch because her current website had been started a year back and never got anywhere, so after a chat we started building a fresh site with a new look and feel. It was important that Gerry could look after this herself so we set out to use Square Space – which worked well as it is what the existing site was already built on, which also meant not paying for additional hosting.

We started with sketches and quickly moved into ‘live prototyping’ in SS with new pages that she could use and share.

This work extended into a logo design and promotional graphic design work too. It looks great all round and VERY importantly, Gerry is thrilled!

Stefano is a ski and tennis instructor with 40 years of expertise – with his experience and knowledge he’s the perfect candidate for guiding students to the best sporting versions of themselves.

We met a few months ago and he asked if I could design him a website that would be easy for him to manage himself, so off we set with sketches and SquareSpace (which I used as an early prototyping tool)! He has such fantastic knowledge of his field and so much media to share that creating a design became quite straightforward. With his feedback and those of his clients (we showed the various iterations to his clients and students) we quickly got to a point where we felt that the site was ready.

Now Stefano is the proud owner of a new website that meets his needs, showcase his talents and helps get him business!

Moons Wood has built their own website on Wix and needed some web design expertise to tie it all together. Wix is relatively limiting but it allowed me to focus on layouts and consistency for a clear brand and messaging. I standardised type faces, headings, colours, sections anded-cluttered the site and navigation elements to make it easier for site visitors to make their way around the website and book the activities they were looking for.

A new website for thought provoking content revolving around a holistic, responsible, ethical and sustainable approach to digital and information technology.

Russell has had a leading voice in the world of technology for a long time now and wanted to collect his involvement in one place through a website that he could use as a platform. This platform is collaborative, so it was built on WordPress to make it simple for new contributors to join and get going as quickly as possible!

Suffolk River Trips needed me to add some content and bring the site up to scratch, which I did by fixing broken layouts and implementing identified accessibility issues. I also added analytics so that we could monitor the traffic that would allow us to make more informed decisions in the future. Part of the additions I made was to add the new logo to the site and implement some colours to go alongside it.

Their website had previously been built and maintained by a friend of theirs who could no longer continue in that role so they asked me to step in.

All in all, it looks great! The client was very pleased and kind enough to give me some feedback:

“J4G Design have been an excellent ‘one stop shop’ for our small business – Chris has helped us with all our marketing needs, most recently updating our website and providing valuable insights into website accessibility and designing a new DL leaflet. Chris has been great at prioritising work to fit our budget and we never feel pressurised into agreeing work until we are ready for it. We highly recommend J4G Design if you want friendly, efficient and effective help with your marketing needs.”

David Cross is based in Suffolk and is interested in every detail of life. He needed a new website that promoted his unique view on the world and provided an easy link to another website where his images could be purchased.

I had two main objectives here:

1 – showcase his fantastic images on the home page (without affecting the load speed), instead of having to dig through the site for them

2 – put an emphasis on a CTA to buy the images on a website that handles and processes payments.
Although using an external site isn’t the smoothest experience, it is what David felt worked best for him so I worked to integrate that workflow as smoothly as I could.

We built this site remotely and had several iterations of the design before we felt that the site both met its modern needs and David was happy with it.

A new website for an association of businesses looking to collectively promote local business and communities.

I worked with a representative from the association to completely re-design and re-build the website. The previous build was old, did not work on mobile, not up to modern standards, was difficult to track and a mess in the dashboard. Rather than re-work the existing site we exported the content and imported it into a new design which met the needs of the client. There will be a future piece of work where the page template for the individual businesses is modernised and templated so that a more exciting and useful uniform layout can be achieved.

The site was built on WordPress. I designed, built and implemented all the technical elements on this site, including domains, the migration, SSL certificate and analytics.
