This page explains what personal information J4G Design collects through this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We’ve written it in plain English on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email us and we’ll explain it properly.
Who we are
J4G Design Ltd is a website design and SEO studio based in Fulham, London. Our website address is https://www.j4gdesign.co.uk, and the person responsible for your data is Christopher Mollard, who you can reach at christopher@j4gdesign.co.uk. For everything on this page, we’re what the law calls the “data controller” — the party deciding what happens with the information you share.
What we collect, and why
When you fill in a contact form, we collect the details you give us — typically your name, email address, phone number if you choose to share it, and whatever you write in your message. We use this to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to run the project. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and then the contract between us if you become a client. We keep enquiry details for as long as the conversation is live, and client records for six years after a project ends, because UK tax law requires us to.
When you join our mailing list, we collect your name and email address, and we only ever do this with your explicit consent. Our newsletter system runs on our own website rather than a third-party marketing platform, which means your details stay on our server and are never sold, swapped or shared for marketing. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list immediately.
When you browse the site, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how they found us — this is how we improve the site and it’s the same service most websites use. Analytics only runs after you accept it via the cookie notice, and the information it gives us is aggregated: we see that someone visited, not who they were. You can decline via the cookie notice and the site works exactly the same.
Cookies
The site sets a small cookie to remember your choice on the cookie notice itself (so we don’t ask you on every page), and, only if you accept, the Google Analytics cookies described above. We don’t run advertising cookies, tracking pixels from social networks, or anything that follows you around the internet.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell or rent your information to anyone, ever. The limited sharing that does happen is the practical kind every website has: our website is kept on secure hosting infrastructure with daily backups, email passes through Google’s mail servers because that’s who provides our email, and analytics data is processed by Google as described above. Where we use a supplier like this, they act on our instructions and are bound by their own privacy obligations.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable format, or stop using it for any particular purpose. Just email christopher@j4gdesign.co.uk — there’s no form to fill in and no charge, and we’ll respond within a month. If you’re ever unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the website handles personal information — a new form, a new tool — we’ll update this page at the same time, and the date below will tell you when it was last reviewed.
